Electrolux Dryer Exhaust Vent Blockage Advisory (2020)

Electrolux dryer exhaust vent blockage advisory (2020) — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.

Electrolux issued a safety advisory for select EFDE and ELFE series dryers regarding lint accumulation in the internal exhaust path that could restrict airflow and increase fire risk. This advisory was circulated through Electrolux authorized service centers and covered units where the internal vent path design could trap lint in locations not accessible through normal filter cleaning.

In affected units, lint could accumulate in the duct area between the lint filter housing and the blower wheel, gradually restricting exhaust airflow. Over time, this restriction could cause the dryer to overheat, potentially triggering error code E62 (overheating detected) or, in severe cases, igniting trapped lint. The risk was highest in dryers that had been in service for more than two years without professional lint path cleaning.

Affected Models

This advisory covers Electrolux EFDE series and early ELFE7637A dryer models manufactured before July 2020. Check the model and serial number on the label inside the dryer door frame.

Required Action Steps

  1. Schedule a professional lint path cleaning service if your dryer is more than two years old.
  2. Clean the lint filter after every load — do not operate the dryer with a clogged filter.
  3. If the dryer displays E62 or runs abnormally hot, stop using it and unplug it immediately.
  4. Check the external exhaust vent hood for lint buildup and ensure the flapper opens freely.
  5. Contact Electrolux at 1-877-435-3287 if you experience overheating symptoms.

Urgency Level

MODERATE — schedule lint path cleaning if dryer is over 2 years old. If overheating, burning smell, or E62 error code occurs, stop use and unplug immediately. Never leave any dryer running unattended.
