Electrolux Appliance: Electrical Safety and Circuit Requirements

Electrolux appliance: electrical safety and circuit requirements — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.

Every Electrolux major appliance requires a properly rated dedicated electrical circuit for safe operation. Sharing a circuit with other appliances, using extension cords, or operating on an undersized circuit creates overload conditions that can cause overheating, tripped breakers, appliance damage, or electrical fires.

Circuit Requirements by Appliance

  • Dishwasher: Dedicated 15A or 20A, 120V circuit
  • Washer: Dedicated 20A, 120V circuit
  • Dryer (electric): Dedicated 30A, 240V circuit with 4-prong outlet
  • Range/Oven (electric): Dedicated 40A or 50A, 240V circuit
  • Cooktop (induction): Dedicated 40A, 240V circuit
  • Refrigerator: Dedicated 15A or 20A, 120V circuit — never use a GFCI outlet (nuisance trips cause food loss)
  • Microwave: Dedicated 20A, 120V circuit
  • Ice Maker: Dedicated 15A, 120V circuit
  • Wine Cooler: Dedicated 15A, 120V circuit

Safety Rules

  • Never use an extension cord or power strip with a major appliance
  • Never remove the ground prong from a three-prong plug
  • If a breaker trips repeatedly when an appliance runs, stop using it and have both the circuit and appliance inspected
  • Burning smell from an outlet or plug indicates overheating — unplug immediately and have an electrician inspect
  • All 240V appliances should be installed by a licensed electrician

If you are installing a new Electrolux appliance, verify the circuit rating matches the appliance specification before connecting. An undersized circuit is a fire hazard that may not be immediately apparent — the wiring overheats gradually over time before failing.
