Electrolux dishwasher: child safety and lock features — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.
Electrolux dishwashers contain hot water, sharp items, and cleaning chemicals that pose risks to young children. Understanding and using the built-in safety features protects your household.
Child Lock Feature
Electrolux EDSH and IQ-Touch series dishwashers include a control lock function that prevents children from starting a cycle or changing settings. Activate the control lock by holding the designated button for 3 seconds (refer to your model’s manual for the specific button). The lock icon will illuminate on the display. Always activate the control lock when the dishwasher is not in use in households with young children.
Loading Safety
- Always load sharp knives and utensils with points facing down in the silverware basket
- Store dishwasher detergent pods out of reach of children — they resemble candy and are a poisoning hazard
- Do not let children climb on or hang from the open door — it can tip the unit forward
- The interior and dishes are hot immediately after a cycle — keep children away until contents have cooled
Chemical Safety
Dishwasher detergent is corrosive and can cause serious burns to skin, eyes, and the mouth and throat if ingested. Store all dishwasher cleaning products in their original containers, locked or out of reach of children. If ingestion occurs, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately — do not induce vomiting.
