Electrolux Cooktop: Hot Surface Burn Prevention

Electrolux cooktop: hot surface burn prevention — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.

Electrolux electric and induction cooktops retain surface heat after cooking zones are turned off. Unlike gas burners where the flame is visually obvious, electric and induction surfaces can be dangerously hot with no visible indicator — a leading cause of contact burns, especially for children and elderly household members.

Hot Surface Indicators

Electrolux cooktops display an “H” (hot surface) indicator on the zone display when the glass surface is still hot after cooking. Do not touch the cooktop surface or place anything on a zone that shows the H indicator. The indicator will remain lit until the surface cools to a safe temperature — this can take 15 to 30 minutes depending on the cooking temperature used.

Prevention Measures

  • Never place towels, paper, or plastic items on the cooktop surface during or after cooking
  • Keep pot handles turned inward so they cannot be bumped or grabbed by children
  • Use the child lock function when the cooktop is not in use
  • Teach all household members that the H indicator means the surface is still hot enough to cause burns
  • Do not use the cooktop surface as a counter or storage area when not cooking

First Aid for Burns

For minor contact burns: run cool (not cold) water over the area for at least 10 minutes. Do not apply butter, oil, or toothpaste. Cover with a clean, non-stick bandage. For burns larger than 3 inches, blistering burns, or burns on hands, face, or joints, seek medical attention immediately.
