Electrolux Cooktop: Induction Safety and Pacemaker Advisory

Electrolux cooktop: induction safety and pacemaker advisory — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.

Electrolux induction cooktops generate electromagnetic fields to heat cookware directly. While safe for most users, people with implanted cardiac pacemakers or defibrillators should consult their physician before using induction cooking appliances.

Pacemaker Advisory

Induction cooktops produce electromagnetic fields within the frequency range that can potentially interfere with some cardiac pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). If you or anyone in your household has an implanted cardiac device, consult the device manufacturer and your cardiologist before operating an induction cooktop. Maintain a minimum distance of 12 inches between the cooktop surface and the implanted device during operation.

General Induction Safety

  • Only use induction-compatible cookware (magnetic base — test with a refrigerator magnet)
  • Do not place credit cards, hotel key cards, or magnetic media on the cooktop surface
  • The cooktop surface itself does not heat — but it becomes hot from contact with heated cookware
  • Do not operate the cooktop with an empty pan — it can overheat and damage the surface
  • Keep metallic items (knives, utensils, foil) away from active zones to prevent unintended heating

Child Safety

Electrolux induction cooktops include a child lock feature — activate it when the cooktop is not in use. The absence of visible flames or red-glowing elements makes it harder for children to recognize that the cookware and surrounding surface area are hot. Always supervise children in the kitchen during and after cooking.
