Every Electrolux freestanding and slide-in range must have an anti-tip bracket properly installed and secured to the floor or wall. Without this bracket, the range can tip forward if heavy weight is placed on an open oven door, causing serious burns, crush injuries, or death — particularly to children.

Why Anti-Tip Brackets Matter

The CPSC estimates that freestanding ranges tip over in thousands of incidents each year, causing dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries — most involving children. An open oven door acts as a lever; a child climbing on it or an adult pressing down while removing a heavy dish can tip the entire range forward. The anti-tip bracket prevents this by anchoring the rear of the range to the floor.

Verification Steps

  1. Carefully pull the range forward a few inches — you should feel resistance from the bracket engaging the rear foot
  2. If the range slides freely with no resistance, the bracket is missing or improperly installed
  3. Look behind or underneath the range for the L-shaped metal bracket — it should be screwed to the floor
  4. Every Electrolux range ships with an anti-tip bracket in the hardware package — if yours is missing, contact Electrolux for a free replacement

After Moving the Range

Any time the range is pulled out for cleaning or service, verify the anti-tip bracket is re-engaged when you push it back. The rear foot must slide under the bracket lip. This is the single most important safety check after moving any freestanding range.
