Electrolux washer: flooding prevention and water supply safety — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.
A burst or disconnected water supply hose on an Electrolux front-load washer can flood a room in minutes, causing extensive water damage to flooring, walls, and the floor below. The most effective prevention is using flood-safe supply hoses and knowing where your shut-off valves are located.
Prevention Measures
- Replace rubber supply hoses with braided stainless steel flood-safe hoses — they include auto-shutoff valves that stop water flow if the hose bursts
- Turn off water supply valves when leaving for vacation or extended absence
- Inspect hose connections every six months for corrosion, bulging, or drips
- Replace all supply hoses every five years regardless of condition
- Consider installing a water leak sensor and automatic shutoff system behind the washer
Emergency Response
If a hose bursts or you discover flooding: immediately turn off the water supply valves (typically located behind the washer on the wall), then unplug the washer. If the supply valves are seized and will not turn, shut off the main water supply to the house. Towel and mop standing water immediately — water damage worsens rapidly, especially on hardwood floors and through to lower levels.
Error code E13 (water leak detected) on Electrolux washers indicates the internal leak sensor has been triggered. Stop the cycle, drain the washer, and inspect before resuming use.
